TGIF House Tour – Dining Room

For today’s House Tour, I’m going to show you the dining room which is a work in progress. Of course I’d rather wait to show you the house when everything is the way I have envisioned it but that will probably take years and I think there is value in showing the good and the “not so good” as a reminder that it takes time and money to fill a house and doesn’t happen overnight.

We recently bought this amazing hutch that you can read more about here. It’s the nicest piece of furniture we have bought since we’ve been married and I still have no regrets.

Most of the items you see on the bookshelves were thrifted, gifts or diy projects which make for inexpensive décor items.

The wall art was a birthday gift from my mom last year and is from Kirklands, it’s large and is such a statement wall piece that you see when you walk in the front door.

Wooden Planter was a clearance find at Home Depot

Dried Hydrangeas are from a family friend’s yard last fall

Table Runner is from Marshalls that my mom picked up for me – thanks again Mom!

The table was my husband’s breakfast table before we got married, it will stay there until we decide it’s time to upgrade to a real dining room table.

Plans for this room:

1. Add shutter style blinds

2. Purchase a Dining Room Table and Chairs

3. Purchase Large Area Rug

It may be months or years before we get to those plans and that’s ok! I have to constantly remind myself that it takes time, money and patience to fill a home.

TGIF House Tour – Guest Bathroom

For the next Home Tour, I am going to give you a glance at one of our Guest Bathrooms. I haven’t done much decorating in any of the bathrooms yet but I’ll show you what I have so far because they’re simple projects that anyone could do.

Home Classics Reiko Floral Shower Curtain was off our wedding registry from Kohls but I’ve seen it since then at Kirklands

Guest_Bathroom_TourV2I picked up a plain frame without glass or artwork from the thrift store for $1 and painted and distressed a little. Then I purchased this H at Hobby Lobby (50% off of course) to go inside the thrift store frame. This is a customizable and inexpensive project that worked great above the toilet.

One thing we did to save a little money was to buy our own mirrors for our house. The standard mirrors for the houses had no frames and cost more than it would cost me to buy framed mirrors. This Mirror was one I had purchased several years ago for my apartment that I just taped off and used the brushed nickel spray paint to make it match the fixtures. Mirrors are not always cheap so this was a great way to use what I had and save a little money.

That’s all so far! I still need to work on a towel bar/hook for the wall across from the toilet and maybe some cute towel storage but it will do for now! It’s always something, right? 🙂

TGIF House Tour – Guest Bedroom

For my second house tour I’m going to share the guest bedroom. We rarely have guests but I still love that it’s ready if and when we do! It’s still not complete but it will do for now! I also have another DIY drop cloth curtain in mind for this room as well since the other two ended up being so affordable and easy to make! 🙂

The two pictures on the wall are from my grandma. My mom worked at a frame shop in high school and she says these were some of the hot items back then. They’re old rustic farmhouse/barn pictures and I love them and that they remind me of my Mom and Grandma!

Well that’s all for now! I hope you enjoyed the tour of the guestroom. If you missed the master bedroom tour you can find it here.

TGIF House Tour – Master Bedroom

I have wanted to do a house tour for months but had a few projects I was hoping to complete before sharing. I’ve come to realize I’m never going to be 100% done so I might as well share how they look today even if something changes tomorrow. I’m starting with the Master Bedroom tour for one, because it’s one of the most completed rooms in the house and two, because it’s become one of my favorite spaces. This room is filled with lots of DIY projects which makes it even more special to me.

A Hamby Christmas

I know it’s after Christmas but I figured it’s better late than never to share with you our new home this Christmas!

Front Porch: I wanted something simple and easy for the front porch. My favorite was the old window I was recently given and I just taped tissue paper behind it to give it a Christmas look.

Entry Way Niches: My favorite is the gift bag from the dollar spot that I framed as chalkboard art! Such a cute and inexpensive art piece!
